HOW TO ENROLL

We are a non-selective public school. Enrollment is open to all students K-8th grade who live in the city of Chicago. There are no tuition costs or testing requirements to attend.


At Rowe, we know that finding the right school for your child is a priority. We use a streamlined application process to make things easier for you and your family.

Submit An Application

Complete and submit an online or paper application for each of your children you would like to enroll at Rowe.

Kindergarten Lottery System

If more kindergarten applications are received than we have space for, your child’s application will be entred into a random enrollment lottery. This process helps us ensure fairness in the application process.  For 1st-8th grade, Rowe has a rolling waitlist, this means that seats will be offered in the order they are recieved.

Notification

Once the kindergarten lottery is complete, you will receive notification on whether your child was accepted or waitlisted at Rowe. For grades 1st- 8th, waitlist acceptance letters will be mailed out after the Kindergarten lottery.

    Frequently Asked Questions About Enrollment

    Do siblings have a preference?

    If you have a scholar that is currently enrolled at Rowe and you have an incoming kindergarten scholar, your kindergarten scholar is AUTOMATICALLY accepted. Please note that a complete application must be submitted prior to the deadline.

    How old does my child have to be to enroll as a kindergarten student?

    In order to enroll in kindergarten, your child must be five years old by September 1st. Birth certificates will be requested.

    Do I need to live in a particular area of the city to enroll my child at Rowe?

    No! You just need to live in the city of Chicago in order to enroll your child at Rowe. Proof of address will be requested.

    Is before/after school care available?

    Yes. One of the great advantages of Rowe Elementary School is that we offer before and after school care. Before school care begins at 7:00am and after school care ends at 6:00pm. To enroll your scholar in the after school program, please contact our program coordinator, Martha Castillo, by phone at 773-969-5583 or via email at mcastillo@nush.org.

    What enrichment and specials classess are offered at Rowe?

    Art, PE, Music, and Drama are offered at Rowe Elementary School. Art, PE, and Technology are offered at Rowe Middle School. Enrichment and special classess may vary by trimester.

    What clubs and extracurricular activities are offered at Rowe?

    At Rowe, we offer a variety of extracurricular activities, including boys/girls basketball, soccer, volleyball, rugby, Snapology, robotics, art, and Girls on the Run, among others.

    Does my child need certain grades to enroll?

    No, Rowe Elementary is a non-selective public school open to all Chicago students. No test scores, grades, recommendations, or behavioral history will be taken into consideration. Rowe Elementary does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, disability, age, sexual orientation, religion, ancestry, marital status, national or ethnic origin, or need for special education services.

    What Special Education services are offered at Rowe?

    At Rowe, we provide special education services in the inclusion and pull-out setting across content areas that meet the needs of each individual child.
